Good Friday: The Service of Shadows

On Good Friday, we gather to remember the most solemn moment in the Christian story—the death of Jesus Christ upon the cross.

Through our Tenebrae service, the story unfolds in Scripture, step by step, as we hear the account of betrayal, suffering, and sacrifice. With each reading, the light slowly fades. Candles are extinguished. The room grows dim.

This is the Service of Shadows.

It draws us into the weight of the cross—not rushing past it, but sitting with it. Here we face the reality of sin, the depth of Christ’s suffering, and the cost of redemption.

And at the end, we leave in darkness and silence.

No final song. No benediction. Only the quiet echo of what has been done.

Come and enter the story. Stay at the cross. And wait… for what God will do next.
