1) What time does the worship service start, and what is it like?
Our worship service begins at 10:00 AM every Sunday and lasts about an hour. It follows a traditional format, including hymns sung with piano accompaniment, the recitation of the Apostles’ Creed, and the celebration of Holy Communion every week.
One of our top priorities for Sunday Worship is that it be meaningful and reverant with our focus upon God.
You're welcome to dress however you feel comfortable—from casual to business attire. Our pastor typically wears business casual, and you’ll find that our community is warm, welcoming, and eager to say hello.
We practice open table Communion, which means everyone is invited to participate—no exceptions. We believe God’s grace is for all.
2) Will I be welcome even if I’m not a member (or not religious)?
Absolutely. You are welcome at all of our services and events, whether you’re a member, a seeker, or just curious. We believe the church is meant to be a welcoming, Christ-centered community that embraces everyone.
We don’t judge—that’s God’s role, not ours. Our goal is simply to love, listen, and walk alongside you wherever you are on your journey.
3) Is there something for my children or teenagers?
Yes! Each Sunday during worship, we have a Children’s Moment, where young ones are invited to the front for a short, engaging message that helps them connect with God in a meaningful way.
We also provide a kid-sized table in the sanctuary stocked with coloring materials and simple crafts to help little hands stay busy during the service.
While we currently do not offer Sunday School, we partner with nearby sister churches for youth group activities so that kids and teens still have opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with peers.
4) How do I meet people?
There are lots of great ways to get connected at Homestead! Start by chatting with folks before or after worship, or drop by our coffee hour before the service. We also host monthly Women’s Circles (ladies’ groups with fellowship and service projects), a Thursday morning discussion group (currently studying the book of Romans), as well as church lunches and special events throughout the year. Everyone is welcome—we’d love to get to know you!
5) What do we do for the community?
Our outreach efforts change from month to month, reflecting the needs of the moment and our heart for service. We support Se Luz, a ministry in Guatemala focused on empowering youth, and Emma Norton Services, which provides housing and support for women and families in Minnesota.
We also partner with local organizations in Rochester throughout the year to respond to needs in our own community. Whether global or local, we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ wherever we’re needed.
